I make a habit of reading one work of detailed nonfiction a year. Somehow this month, I ended up reading two (both over 20 hours on audio). So, in short, it was a funky reading month for me. But I thoroughly enjoyed my deep-dive into America in the 1960s and the lives of the Schuyler sisters.
Happy reading!

An Unfinished Love Story: A Personal History of the 1960s, Doris Kearns Goodwin | Nonfiction/Memoir, 4/5
This was a lovely memoir detailing a period of US history I didn’t know much about. Goodwin masterfully weaves her and her husbands roles in Washington with the politics of the day. This is especially a pointent read given the current political environment.
Notes on Heartbreak, Annie Lord | Memoir, 4/5
I really was engrossed in the first half of this book but the middle drug a little for me. Overall, a touching and honest book about heartbreak.
Thank you to the publisher for my copy.
Girl on Girl: How Pop Culture Turned a Generation of Women Against Themselves, Sophie Gilbert | Nonfiction, 4/5
As provocative as it was thought provoking, this is such an important read, especially given the rhetoric of Trump 2.0. Highly recommend this book.
Persuasion, Jane Austen | Fiction, 5/5
This is my favorite work of Austen’s I’ve read. It’s a lovely and grown up coming of age story that still keeps Austen’s humor and wit.
It's Not Her, Mary Kubica | Thriller, 4/5
I liked this book. I had a harder time getting into the teenager’s POV, it felt a little overwritten, but overall this was a great thriller that kept me guessing until the end!
Pride and Pleasure: The Schuyler Sisters in an Age of Revolution, Amanda Vaill | Nonfiction, 4/5
At 27 hours, it is fair to say this is an extremely comprehensive audiobook. I really enjoyed the contents but would only recommend if you’re looking for a deep dive on this niche bit of American history. And yes, have had all the songs from Hamilton stuck in my head for the last two weeks.
Theo of Golden, Allen Levi | Fiction, 4.5/5
This was a beautiful slow read. I found the characters to be moving and reflective. I got a little lost in the middle trying to keep track of all the characters, but the ending made it well worth the journey.
