February tends to be my most dreary month, which this year translated over into my reading life. The month started off strong and then slowly faded. But we made it through—here's to March!

One Day I'll Grow Up and Be a Beautiful Woman | Memoir, 5/5
This memoir is vulnerable and beautiful in all the ways my soul needed in the early days of 2025. More than anything, this is a book about a mother’s love for her daughter. It was beautiful and I hope more people will read it.
Thank you to the publisher for my copy.
Good Dirt | Fiction, 5/5
BLACK CAKE remains one of my favorite books and I absolutely could not wait to read GOOD DIRT. Wilkerson has a beautiful way a guiding readers through years of family history, weaving together the past to help understand the present. I flew through this book—I honestly could have finished it in one sitting.
The Guncle Abroad | Fiction, 4/5
GUP remains one of my favorite characters in literature. While this book wasn’t quite as moving as the first, I still really enjoyed it. It also made me want to book a trip to Europe asap!
Penitence | Literary Fiction, 4/5
This is a slow read but perfect for winter. I found the sweeping storyline to be captivating and the characters to be compelling. This book spans multiple decades, and while it centers around a murder, I would not say it’s a thriller or a mystery, but a contemplation. If you like books that dive into the why of the human experience without giving a tidy answer, this book is for you.
Famous Last Words | Thriller, 3.5/5
I devoured the first act of this book, but found the rest of the book to be a little slow and too repetitive. This book was a little too long for my taste, but the characters were compelling. I wish the ending would have been more fleshed out, instead of told through a monologue.

Building Material | Memoir, 3/5
I was so excited for this memoir! The cover is amazing, and I loved the premise. However, I had a hard time with how the book was structured and in every vignette Bruno was the hero and everyone else the annoying fool.

Long Island Compromise | Literary Fiction, 4/5
I really enjoyed this family saga!
This book is not for you if:
1. You need likable characters—everyone is a little terrible.
2. You need something to actually happen.
3. You want a clean, tidy ending.
